EcoVadis
EcoVadis is a global provider of sustainability ratings, analyzing companies’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. These assessments help businesses enhance their sustainability practices and communicate transparently with stakeholders.
Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Paris, EcoVadis specializes in assessing and monitoring the sustainability performance of companies. Its methodology is based on international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000. The assessment focuses on four key areas:
- Environment: Evaluation of resource use, emissions, and environmental management.
Labor & Human Rights: Analysis of working conditions, human rights practices, and diversity. - Ethics: Examination of business conduct, anti-corruption efforts, and fair competition.
- Sustainable Procurement: Review of supply chain practices and supplier adherence to sustainability standards.
The EcoVadis assessment process consists of four main steps:
- Registration: Companies register on the EcoVadis platform and provide basic information about their business operations.
- Questionnaire: A tailored questionnaire is completed, taking into account the company’s industry, size, and geographic context.
- Expert Analysis: EcoVadis analysts evaluate the submitted information and assess the company’s sustainability performance.
- Results: Results are presented in a scorecard, highlighting strengths, areas for improvement, and an overall score ranging from 0 to 100.
Companies with high scores can receive EcoVadis medals (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), recognizing their sustainability achievements.
For manufacturing companies, EcoVadis is particularly relevant as customers and partners increasingly demand credible sustainability ratings. A strong rating can strengthen customer relationships, simplify participation in tenders, and serve as a strategic complement to regulatory frameworks such as the CSRD.
